Here is an original idea. UNESCO have designed a bookmark in celebration of the day. You could print it off and put it inside the book you’re going to give as a gift. Click here to get it!
The team at Go English would like to propose that you use this day to begin reading a book in English. Your teachers will have told you lots of times that reading is a great way to improve your English out of class. Graded readers are a great option to do this. A graded reader is a story that has been adapted to make it easier for learners of English as a second language to read and enjoy books in English. Check out your local library or bookshop. You can also read for free by choosing a book from this webpage.
Organised by levels you have hundreds of titles to choose from. You can download them to a mobile device and read as you go. Check out UNESCO’s fact sheet about reading on mobile devices.
