The way we travel has changed so much in the past ten years; that much in fact that now we don’t even have to switch off our phone on an airplane. The commercial flight cabin as we know it may also be on its way out.
Apparently, in ten years we will have the necessary equipment to install giant screens where images and updates can be displayed taking over from views out of the plane’s little windows. The idea is to install OLED touch-screens that extend along the plane’s entire length and display the view from outside through cameras on the plane’s exterior. Would you feel safe not knowing what´s going on outside from your own little window?
Here is a video introducing the design, a project run by a British technology research company:
- Windowless: with no windows.
- Way out: a route or direction.
- Displayed: to show (computer data) on a screen.
