Christmas is just around the corner…

Have you ever been to a Christmas market?

The first Christmas Markets – originated in Germany on the XIV Century- were little more than winter markets that lasted a couple of days. Generally held in the town square and adjacent pedestrian zones, the market sells food, drink, and seasonal items from open-air stalls, accompanied by traditional singing and dancing.

Today, Christmas Markets serve much the same function that they have for centuries — as a festive meeting place for locals and a market for homemade Christmas ornaments and decorations.

Wherever you live in Europe I am sure not far away is a Christmas market for you, but hurry up and buy your presents, Christmas is just around the corner! Check them here!

When you are at a Christmas market and winter weather hits, nothing could be better than a toasty mug of mulled wine. If you rather prepare your own one at home you can always follow this famous Jamie Oliver recipe.

  • Around the corner:  fast approaching.
  • Hit: to arrive or appear.
  • Ornament: a small decorative object.

Merry Christmas! Enjoy!
