September 16th will be remembered as an important date in the calendar for Apple lovers around the world. Release day of the iPhone 7. Queues outside Apple stores worldwide got longer and longer. But many customers in New Zealand didn’t have to go to the end of the line, they managed to get the device without even leaving their houses and they did so with the help of 100 tiny robots.
Spark offered the first 100 customers to pre-order the phone with them the opportunity to have an Alpha 1 robot standing in their place in the queue.
‘Queuing is an iconic part of new device fan culture,’ said Clive Ormerod, GM Customer and Marketing for Spark.
‘People will camp for days outside stores to get their hands on the latest devices.
‘We thought, technology these days is so much more advanced than it used to be, so why shouldn’t our customers have their tech queue for them instead?’
And, the lucky 100 customers got to keep the robot once the phone finally went on sale.
