Happy Saint George’s Day!

For those who live in England or Spain today is a special day: we are all celebrating Saint George’s Day!

What is it?

You all know the legend of the Dragon, St George and a Princess. Well here in Barcelona we mix it with roses and a book. You can read a brief summary here.

Traditions

For today’s Barcelona residents it’s a beautiful day to walk along the Rambla and browse around the stalls with roses and books for sale. You can even get your favourite book signed by the author!

Women are traditionally given a rose by the (many) men their life: boyfriend, husband, son, friend… And in return women should reciprocate with a book (although rose sales far exceed the book sales).

This is just a quick note to wish you a Happy Saint George’s Day! Make the most of it!
